How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

Active listening - for interviewing, for work, for life

Interviewing for your research? Being interviewed? Want to make sure that you clearly communicating?

The way to improve your listening skills is to practice "active listening." This is where you make a conscious effort

to hear not only the words that another person is saying but, more importantly, the complete message being

communicated. In order to do this you must pay attention to the other person very carefully.

Active listening is an important research skill, but also supports you as a team member, leader, teacher and

mentor.

Research Methods Series 3: Qualitative methodologies, data collection and analysis

This workshop aims to provide you with an overview of a range of qualitative analytical skills and methodologies, which can be applied in a range of research settings. The workshop will introduce how qualitative data can be collected (interviews, surveys, focus groups) and analysed using thematic, grounded theory, narrative, interpretative phenomenological, and ethnographic analysis. In addition, a range of data analysis packages will also be covered (Signpost to IT session). All participants during the session will have an opportunity to analyse a piece of text to apply learned knowledge to practice.
