Applications for the Postgraduate Taught Sanctuary Scholarship are now closed. The information below is relevant to students who applied for 2024 entry and give an indication of the eligibility criteria and support available for 2025 entry (but please note that this is subject to change).

Postgraduate Taught Sanctuary Scholarship Overview

Postgraduate Taught Sanctuary Scholarships are available to students who are seeking sanctuary in the United Kingdom or have been awarded a protection status as a result of an asylum application.

Please note that there are 3 PGT Sanctuary Scholarships available for 2024 entry and not all applications will be successful. We would therefore encourage you to explore alternative sources of fundingLink opens in a new window if you plan to apply for the scholarship.

Updated information about the PGT Sanctuary Scholarship for 2025 entry will be posted below in due course. In the meantime, please read through the information on this webpage for 2024 entry - particularly regarding the support available and the eligibility criteria (please note, though, that this is subject to change).

There are up to 3 PGT Sanctuary Scholarships available for 2024 entry. Each scholarship includes:

Financial support
  • Full tuition fee support: Students will be offered a non-repayable 100% tuition fee waiver for 1 year (2 years if part-time).
  • Maintenance/living cost support: Students will be awarded a maintenance stipend in line with UKRI ratesLink opens in a new window (£19,237 for 2024/25 academic year).

Pastoral support

The Widening Participation Lifecycle Team will support you throughout your studies and will share information about opportunities that might be relevant to you. We can also signpost you to other areas of support across the university.
