Welcome to English at Warwick! We have a thriving and lively intellectual community of postgraduates in the department, and we're very much looking forward to meeting you in the new term.

The department will be in touch with information about our Welcome events over the summer.

Welcome Week

Our Welcome Week is 23-29 September 2024.

Departmental Induction

Our main induction and welcome event will be on Tuesday, 24 September, from 12-3pm (including lunch). Lunch will be at 12pm in our Student Hub (5th floor, Faculty of Arts Building aka the FAB). We will then move around 12:45pm to FAB2.43.

At the induction, you will learn about all the course procedures, events and activities, wellbeing, and social life. You will have a chance to meet staff and other current students over the lunch. Please let us know if you have any access requirements. Attendance at the induction is highly encouraged.

ECLS International Student Induction

The Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies (ECLS) will also host an additional induction for international students in Week 2 on Wednesday, October 9th, from 5:30-7pm (Student Hub, 5th floor, Faculty of Arts Building). Dr Nancy Jiang will run this induction, which will introduce you to postgraduate study at Warwick.

Workshop - Student Conduct - Looking out for yourself and your friends


Attend the Workshop - 'Student Conduct - Looking out for yourself and your friends' on Thursday 26th, 2-3 pm, in the Woods-Scawen theatre at the Warwick Arts Centre. This session is based around the Warwick Values. It will support you in looking out for yourself and others during your time here, helping to ensure everyone has a safe and positive experience. We will explore what it means to be an Active Bystander and cover key information around Consent and the University’s Report and Support platform. Previous students have rated this session highly.
