Our 50th anniversary celebrations will commence with two Anniversary Lectures. The first, on Thursday 19 October, will be given by Hugo Fiennes. Hugo is currently CEO and co-founder of Electric Imp, an industry-leading IoT platform provider, with offices in Los Altos California and in Cambridge UK. Hugo, a Warwick CS Department graduate, began building hardware and software for early ARM-based computers in the late 1980s. After launching the first in-car MP3 player—the empeg—in 1998, he worked on many generations of MP3 players at Rio before joining Apple to lead the AP hardware team through the first four generations of the iPhone. Hugo later went on to design and architect the hardware for the Nest Thermostat before co-founding Electric Imp.
