CS142 Visualisation (not running 22/23, 23/24)

Academic Aims

We live in a data rich society with data being created at a faster pace than it can be consumed or analysed. The ability to take information, understand it, process it, extract value from it, visualise it, and communicate it is a hugely important skill. In this module we will explore principles and techniques to effectively visualise algorithms, data sets and complex systems.

Learning Outcomes

1. Understand and demonstrate the core skills required to effectively visualise information and processes.

2. Explore procedures, data and emergent systems as the subject of visualisations.

3. Demonstrate an understanding of visualisations and their usage in a wide variety of applications.

4. Evaluate visualisations in terms of users and taks, and human factors.
