Congratulations to Dr Beatriz Lagunas who has been Highly Commended in the Excellence in Gender Equality awards. The award recognises a member of staff that is making a positive difference within the gender equality agenda around the University.

Farming and Environment Award
Professor Rosemary Collier has been Highly Commended by the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists in the first Caroline Drummond Award, Celebrating and Communicating Farming Excellence. Rosemary will be presented with a trophy later in the year.

Microbiologist of the Year
Chelsea Brown, a PhD student in the Fullam Lab, won the Sir Howard Dalton Young Microbiologist of the Year for her talk entitled 'Modelling Mycobacterial Membranes: Anyone for PIMS?' at the 2023 Annual Microbiology conference. Chelsea presented her research to a panel of judges at the Microbiology Society Showcase on Tuesday 3 October 2023.
Outstanding Achievement
Chris de Wolf, Senior Technician, received highly commended status in the Warwick Technician Commitment Award for Outstanding Achievement. This celebrates the fantastic work our technical staff do across research, teaching and within our infrastructure, without which Warwick would not operate.

WATE PGR winners 2022
Congratulations to our winners of the Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence:
The WATE PGR SEM Faculty Award celebrates the exceptional work of colleagues at a very early stage, who teach and support learning in Science, Engineering and Medicine.
Winner - Niamh Harrington, a microbiologist who has just completed her PhD. Niamh's research is focused on the development of a pig lung model for bacterial infections in Cystic Fibrosis.
The WATE PGR Cross Faculty Award celebrates the exceptional work of colleagues at a very early stage in their academic career, recognising educators who work across Faculty boundaries supporting university-wide projects or by working in interdisciplinary ways.
Commended - Zoi Ioannidou, third year MIBTP PhD student in Life Sciences. Zoi is currently studying on the Academic and Professional Pathway for Postgraduate Researchers who Teach (APP PGR) course.
Ancientbiotics - Dr Freya Harrison's WH Pierce Prize 2021 lecture
In 2021 the Society for Applied Microbiology presented Dr Freya Harrison with the WH Pierce Prize, which they award annually to an academic at an early stage in their career who has already made a significant contribution to microbiology.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award winners 2021
Professor Johannes Boltze and Professor Phil Young both received commendation at the inaugural Excellence in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Awards. These awards recognise the outstanding contribution to the enhancement of equality, diversity and inclusion, and a commitment to building more inclusive environments and experiences through everyday behaviours at the University of Warwick.

Presentation winner
Emma Reilly, a third year SLS Biochemistry student, has won the best project presentation award at the British Society of Plant Pathology (BSPP) Summer Student Symposium 2021. Emma's project was entitled 'Harnessing pathogenicity mechanisms to engineer plants tolerant to heat stress' and she was supported by Professor Vardis Ntoukakis.
Dr Freya Harrison wins WH Pierce Prize 2021
Dr Freya Harrison has been awarded the WH Pierce Prize 2021 by the Society for Applied Microbiology for her work in translating medieval literature and medical texts to uncover ancient antimicrobial recipes.

Outstanding Student Achievement Awards 2021
Warwick's students are amongst the most active in the country, with thousands taking part in and running student societies, volunteering through Warwick volunteers, taking an active role in their learning through the SSLC system and much, much more. The University’s Outstanding Student Contribution Award (OSCA) aims to recognise these achievements.
