What is your current role and what does a typical week look like?

My current role is that of Digital Engagement and Events Coordinator. My role is newly formed and a typical week for me involves working on various different student recruitment and events based projects and putting together the SLS Update.

Which part of your role do you enjoy the most, and what are the biggest challenges?

I enjoy creating or updating existing marketing materials such as open day posters because I enjoy offline content creation the most. I have seen marketing materials I created 8 years ago still being used in my local leisure centre and GP's surgery and it's always something I take pride in.

The biggest challenge of this is always maintaining consistency in fonts, colours, image sizes, etc to make everything look perfect.

Who would you say is your role model in your personal and/or professional life?
Michelle Ranavat, founder of Ranavat skincare brand. She founded a great, thriving business that was going against the market trends and made it successful!

How has your education or roles previous to joining Life Sciences, informed your interests, and why did you choose this career direction?
I come from a background in business and marketing. I did a graduate scheme for my local council in public health. I then applied for a job in marketing and student recruitment at the university I graduated from, without much thought about the role. I got the job and I learnt about a whole new side to universities. The pace and variety of the job was enjoyable and really taught me so much. I moved around different universities in different roles exploring UK student recruitment, marketing, admissions, international student recruitment, business development and project coordination. In between I had my own business too and currently manage an events management business. One of my biggest events has been a concert at OVO Arena Wembley.

What is your favourite place on campus and why?
The woods are definitely my favourite place on campus. Whether it's the sound of birds chirping coming through my office windows or a walk in the woods during my lunchtime to break up the working day, enjoy nature and get away from the computer screen!

What are your main interests or passions, outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy cooking, and would love to open my own restaurant at some point! I am an ardent cricket fan.
