Research to inform the development of an employment relations model in Northern Ireland

The Industrial Strategy for Northern Ireland signals that the country aspires to be a globally competitive economy that works for everyone. Underpinning this aspiration is a need for the Labour Relations Agency to develop a strong employment relations model. Because it has devolved responsibility for employment legislation, Northern Ireland has a key advantage within the UK in fulfilling this aspiration. The IER team led by Dr Sally Wright will develop an evidence-based, transformational model of employment relations for Northern Ireland. This model will aim to create inclusive workplaces that maximise their productivity and innovation capacity. The research design is based on secondary data analysis plus primary data generated through key stakeholder interviews. The project runs from January through to the report launch in September 2020.
