What does it mean to provide sanctuary? How does it feel to need sanctuary? We highlight the importance of sanctuary as a concept, tell its histories, and contribute to policies for its future. We work collaboratively with those who give and receive sanctuary. This month, we will explore the importance of Sanctuary for us all.

Working with Coventry Welcomes, we have talks, film screenings, exhibitions, theatre and arts workshops. Our month of Sanctuary is curated by the Borders, Race, Ethnicity and Migration Network.

VIEW AND BOOK EVENTS HERE

On the 24th and 25th June, 2021 Coventry and Warwick universities are holding a dynamic event for regional and national leaders, policy makers and funders, cultural workers and academics involved in the planning, delivery and policy-shaping of UK Cities of Culture and other cultural mega-events including the Commonwealth Games 2022 and Festival UK 2022.

A series of headline sessions with a list of exceptional presenters who will each use their knowledge and experience to bring a range of perspectives on cultural mega-events. Each session will be chaired by a representative from the Coventry City of Culture Leadership Programme, will have an opportunity for questions from the audience, and will be recorded and available at a later date as a free resource.
