By accepting the Warwick- CARA Scholarship, award holders are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions below and are bound by the Funded PGR Student Policy. Scholars should read the Funded PGR Student Policy alongside the Terms and Conditions listed below.

1.1

The Warwick- CARA Scholarship is normally awarded for up to 4 years of full-time doctoral study and normally includes the payment of both academic fees and a maintenance grant to the award-holder. Funding is not retrospective.

1.2

The University’s decision over fee status will be final. By accepting the award, you are confirming that you accept your assigned fee status and are not aware of any evidence that might alter this classification. If you do not disclose such evidence and the University becomes aware of it at a later date, your Warwick- CARA Scholarship award may be revoked.

    1.3

    • Payment of academic fees for the Warwick- CARA Scholarship will be based on fee status as determined by Postgraduate Admissions.
    • Payment of the maintenance grant is set at the standard UKRI rate: https://warwick.ac.uk/services/dc/schols_fund/current/feelevels/ 
    • Payment of a Researcher Training Support Grant (RTSG) is set at £5,000.
    • Two months stipend paid upon submission of the Thesis.

    1.4

    Awards for Warwick- CARA Scholarship in 2023/24 will begin on the date listed in the scholarship offer letter.

    1.5

    The Warwick- CARA Scholarship is subject to awardees retaining the right to study in the UK. Awardees who have been granted limited leave to remain such as refugee or discretionary leave, where it expires before the course end date, will be required to present evidence to prove an in-time application to extend visa has been submitted, or have obtained new immigration permission in order to continue your studies. Awardees will be required to inform the University whenever circumstances change which affect the right to study, for example, if bail conditions changes to include a ‘no study’ restriction, or, if all appeal rights have been exhausted and are required to leave the UK. Our Compliance team will be making periodic check with the Home Office UKVI to ascertain right to study for asylum seekers.

    1.6

    Accommodation fees are not directly covered by the Warwick- CARA Scholarship. The stipend is intended to be a contribution towards living expenses.

    1.7

    Warwick- CARA Scholarship award-holders are expected to be registered full-time and be based at the University throughout their course of study. Any requests to spend part of the period of study away from the University must conform with the conditions set out in the ‘Guidelines on the Supervision of Research Students based away from the University’.

    1.8

    The Warwick- CARA Scholarship award-holder is expected to participate periodically in a range of postgraduate recruitment and community focused activities, which might include postgraduate open days; induction events; focus groups; receptions held with potential sponsors or alumni, student talks etc.
