PGDE bursaries have now been confirmed for future English and Maths FE Teachers
The Department for Education have this month announced the bursary rates for 18/19, for training FE teachers, with an updated bursary for English subject teachers. The financial incentive behind the bursary launch is to attract new high-quality graduates to become teachers in the FE sector.
Centre for Lifelong Learning attend The Universities Association for Lifelong Learning at Cambridge University
The Universities Association for Lifelong Learning held their annual conference last month on the grounds of Cambridge University at Downing College. Senior Teaching Fellow and Tutor, Dr Anil Awesti, Early Years Programme Director, Dr. Sarah Cousins and Director of 2+2 and Part-time Degrees, Dr. Simon Glaze attended the event from the Centre for Lifelong Learning.
2+2 Degree Pathway Student, Jon Winfield to present dissertation at British Conference of Undergraduate Research
The British Conference of Undergraduate Research promotes undergraduate research in all disciplines. The Conference meets annually every spring in a different British university. Undergraduates of all levels are invited to submit papers, posters, workshops and performances to the Conference. Abstracts are peer-reviewed and those accepted will be invited to attend the conference. For BCUR 2018 the conference will be held in Sheffield and one of our own Centre for Lifelong Learning students has been given the opportunity to present their dissertation at the conference next month.
Part-time student funding and fee waiver update
From August 2018, Student Finance will also offer eligible part-time students maintenance loans to help cover living costs during their period of study.
Dr Christine Harrison travels to Engus, Nigeria for #PressforProgress, International Women's Day Event
One of CLL’s Associate Professors and member of the Centre for the Study of Safety and WellBeing (SWELL) will be travelling to Enuba, Nigeria for a conference organised to mark International Women’s Day on March 7, which aims to challenge domestic violence and abuse. Dr Christine Harrison, who has co-ordinated and taught child care and child protection social work for the last 25 years, will join other key speakers at the event organised by non-governmental women’s empowerment organisation, Power to Choose together with the Nchekwa Oha Advocay Foundation.
