This is a 1-year course focusing on advanced technical areas to provide a firm basis for future success in science or industry.

From September 2026, we’ll be enhancing our MSc by introducing specialisms that tailor your degree to your strengths, research interests, and career ambitions.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning:

The specialism will offer foundational and advanced modules in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, giving the student the tools to understand, design and deploy cutting edge AI for a variety of real-world applications.

Cyber Security:

This specialism covers both foundational and advanced areas of cybersecurity, including security principles, cryptography, software security, hardware security, network security and web security. Emphasis is placed on a practical, hands-on approach, enabling students to understand how security systems are compromised in real-world contexts and to develop the skills required to design and build more secure systems.

 Data Analytics:

This specialism offers a comprehensive study of Data Analytics, from foundational principles to advanced techniques. Students will learn practical, computational skills to manage the entire data lifecycle - from collection and visualisation to interpretation and modelling - enabling them to gain actionable insights and build data-driven solutions for real-world challenges.

Robert Garratt, Partner - IBM Consulting

At IBM we are passionate about our relationship with Warwick’s Department of Computer science, and with the University of Warwick more broadly. Warwick produces highly capable graduates, some of whom go on to become our colleagues, clients of our consulting services or customers of our technology products. When I’ve had the opportunity to hear students present their project work, I am always impressed by their combination of technical capability, business acumen and communication skills.
