Amina Asif
About me
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science. I joined the department in March 2023.
I completed my PhD in 2020 with a focus on applied machine learning. My dissertation was titled Weak Supervision in High-Dimensional, Data-Scarce Prediction Problems. My research has been focused on applied machine learning across different application areas, including bioinformatics, medical imaging and computer vision. I am particularly interested in modeling problems that demand tailored solutions, where generic off-the-shelf methods may prove inadequate due to unique characteristics of data. You can view my publications on my Google Scholar profileLink opens in a new window.
Before joining the current position, I served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of AI and Data Science at NUCES, Islamabad, Pakistan. Prior to that I worked as a Research Fellow in the TIA centreLink opens in a new window at Warwick.
