Research on decision-making accepted for publication in Journal Neuroscience
Our recent research on decision-making in a spiking neuronal network has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Neuroscience (IF 8.657). In this paper jointly authored by Dr Smerieri of the Università di Parma (Italy) and Profs Feng & Rolls of COMBI, we show that longer time constants for the inhibitory neurons can decrease the reaction times, and also produce theta rhythm.
Prof Feng to deliver keynote speeches at CNCI'2010 and ICCSB'2010
Prof Feng will deliver a keynote address at the 2nd IEEE Workshop on Communication among Neuroscience, Cognition and Information Technology (CNCI'2010) with a focus on Brain Imaging and Neuroinformatics. His keynote speech will discuss a computational and experimental approach to rhythmic activities in learning and memory. Click here for the Abstract of this talk. Later in October, he will also deliver a plenary speech at the 2nd Annual International Conference on Computational and Systems Biology (ICCSB2010), to be held in Hangzhou, China.
HIMA course at Pathology Informatics
COMBI's Dr Rajpoot co-chaired and presented at the successful Histology Image Analysis (HIMA) course at the annual meeting Pathology Informatics 2010 in Boston.
Launch of the new group
COMBI, previosuly known as the Computational Biology group, is launched as the new group with strengths in Computational Neuroscience, Computational Cell and Systems Biology, Mathematical Biology, and Bioimaging Informatics. We welcome Dr Nasir Rajpoot and Prof Edmund Rolls to the group.
