009 - Empirical Modelling: the computer as a modelling medium
Abstract
A research group at the University of Warwick is developing a novel style of modelling based on observation, dependency and agency. This empirical modelling brings computer-based models closer to the user by combining intuitive computing methods (spreadsheet principles, for example) with an emphasis on the way a user experiences a given real-world domain (such as through interactions with observables).
