What motivates employers to offer family friendly policies
The Government Equalities Office (GEO) commissioned IER to conduct a review of the literature in order to better understand what leads employers to offer and promote family-friendly workplace policies, and which interventions are likely to be successful in encouraging this. Results will support GEO’s plans to build the evidence base on key themes around what works to close the gender pay gap.
In order to address the main aim of the research and to answer the research questions, IER conducted a literature review using systematic search strategies to identify relevant journal articles and grey literature published in the last 10 to 15 years. Outputs will include:
- A Final Report of no more than 25 pages;
- An Executive Summary of 2-3 pages;
- A Powerpoint slide pack;
- A 2-4 page Summary Report, drawing out the key findings and policy implications;
- A 2-4 page Practical Applications Summary (including a conceptual map) which will focus on the practical applications of the findings, highlighting effective interventions, which employers can use to help reduce their gender pay gaps.
The Final Report with Executive Summary will be agreed with GEO by the end of December 2018.
