Monitoring convergence in the dimension of Working Conditions
THIS PROJECT HAS NOW FINISHED
Delivering upward convergence in working conditions is a policy priority for the European Commission. As part of that aim, this project had three key tasks: 1) to analyse long-term trends in working conditions/job quality in Member States in the EU; 2) understand and contextualize the dynamics behind these trends, and 3) to select appropriate policy instruments to help develop an approach to addressing disparities and promote upward convergence. The evidence from these tasks was intended to provide an evidence base to enable a more targeted policy approach to improving job quality in the EU.
The project was funded by Eurofound and runs over 2018-19. It was a joint project involving IER at Warwick and Consolidated Research Unit UIC-177 at the University of Salamanca in Spain. Professor Chris Warhurst was the project lead. The Spanish team was lead by Professor Rafa Muñoz de Bustillo. The rest of the IER team comprises Sally Wright and Dr Sudipa Sarkar.
