Several academics at the University of Warwick have been awarded a UKRI Future Leader Fellowship, providing world class research in topics including autonomous vehicles to life in outer space.
What factors influence the ways people access and use antibiotics in low-and-middle-income countries?
It is often assumed that people use antibiotics inappropriately because they don’t understand enough about the spread of drug resistant superbugs. A new study published in the medical journal BMJ Open and led by Warwick researcher Marco J Haenssgen reveals that in fact basic understanding of drug resistance is widespread in Southeast Asia - and that higher levels of awareness are actually linked to higher antibiotic use in the general population.
UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship award to simulate and develop chemical reactions fuelled by sunlight and greenhouse gases
The intricate interplay of sunlight, molecules, and metal catalyst materials that can break down greenhouse gases such as CO2 will be explored in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Warwick, by Dr Reinhard J. Maurer using computer simulations thanks to award of £1.46M by the Government’s UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship programme.
