Warwick Law School hosts Pakistan Human Rights delegation

A delegation from the National Commission for Human Rights, Pakistan, is visiting the University of Warwick to take part in a dialogue on the role of National Human Rights Institutions and a capacity building programme co-ordinated by Warwick Law School.


Warwick students recognised as leaders in social mobility

Four Warwick students have been recognised as champions of social mobility at the inaugural Student Social Mobility Awards, hosted by Baroness Helena Kennedy in the House of Lords on December 13. The Awards were organised by upReach, supported by the Social Mobility Commission, to showcase the achievements of students and 2018 graduates from less advantaged backgrounds.

The University of Warwick has just announced that it will award honorary degrees to six people at its winter degree ceremonies which will run from Wednesday 16 January - Friday 18 January in the Butterworth Hall of Warwick Arts Centre.


Ground-breaking economist honoured by University of Warwick

Twice in her life Deirdre McCloskey, professor emerita of economics, history, English, and communication at the University of Illinois at Chicago, has torn up the rule book – as a young economist challenging the fundamentals of the discipline, and in her 50s, changing her gender and beginning life as a woman. In recognition of her outstanding academic achievements in the fields of economic theory, economic history, philosophy, rhetoric, feminism, ethics, and law, Professor McCloskey has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Warwick.


Leading lawyer receives honorary doctorate from the University of Warwick

Trailblazing lawyer Dr Julie Maxton has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Warwick. Dr Maxton is Executive Director of the Royal Society, the UK’s oldest learned society, and is the first woman to hold that role.  She was made Honorary Doctor of Laws during Warwick’s summer degree ceremonies.


NASA chief praises Warwick’s satellite programme

NASA’s principal advisor on technology and programmes has praised the University of Warwick’s satellite project WUSAT, calling it “remarkable work”.
