Warwick Behavioral Insights Team (WBIT)

Would you like to know more about how to apply Behavioural Science to the real world?

Supported by the Brain and Behaviour and Society GRP, The Warwick Behavioural Insights Team (WBIT) is a student-run organization where students from Psychology, Economics, and the Warwick Business School, work together to better understand Behavioural Science and to apply it to the real world.

Please visit our event page to view our exciting upcoming talks!

WBIT is comprised of two parts, the Nudge Unit and the Engagement Unit. Both units seek to engage researchers, students and organisations; to share and apply the latest research in solving some of societies biggest challenges in behavioural change.

Nudge Unit

The Nudge Unit conducts research aiming to solve problems by applying insights from Behavioural Science, and to create nudges for local businesses. While face-to-face research was conducted in the past, online studies will be conducted this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. Examples of research include interventions to reduce waste and improve recycling practices at university accommodations, interventions to reduce the use of Uber on campus, energy consumption and fast fashion. The Nudge Unit is ideal for people who want to dip their toes into research but want a more collaborative approach.

Engagement unit

The Engagement unit organizes events with companies, talks and workshops promoting Behavioural Science and Behavioural Economic research during the year which include the Behavioural Science Summit and the Behavioural Science Networking Night (BSNN).

Behavioural Science Summit

Behavioural Science Summit is the biggest student-run Behavioural Science conference in Europe, which has included prominent speakers, such as Nina Mazar, Jez Groom, Paul Adams or Andrew Oswald in past years. To see the 2020 virtual edition of the Summit, please view our video below.

Behavioural Science Networking Night (BSNN)

BSNN is an annual event aiming to connect companies working in Behavioural and Data Sciences with each other and with outstanding students from Warwick, UCL, and LSE, among other universities. Some of the company exhibitors of BSNN 2020 edition include the Behavioural Insights Team (BIT), Deutsche Bank, Bupa, Swiss Re, Ogilvy, Cowry Consulting, and Influence At Work. BSNN takes place at Warwick Business School (The Shard). The 2021 edition, however, will be held online due to COVID-19 restrictions late in April. More details will follow on this webpage and on WBIT's Facebook page.
