Circular Economy Network+ in Transportation Systems: 2nd Call for Feasibility Studies
Feasibility study funding call
The CENTS research network invites proposals for collaborations between academic and industry partners that will enable cross-disciplinary, foresightful and risky early stage research. Applications involving Early Career Researchers (ECRs), and proposing interdisciplinary and cross sector research are particularly encouraged. The expectation is to fund up to four projects of up to a maximum value of £50,000 at full Economic Cost (fEC), with funding to be awarded at 80% fEC. Projects are expected to be approximately 6 months in length, and must complete before the end of Jan 2022.
Note to Early Career Applicants: Leading a CENTS project will not affect eligibility to the New Investigator Award scheme.
Fit with the CENTS Network
In this second round, we again welcome applications from a wide range of disciplines addressing circular economy challenges in transport that fall within our 5 Research Strands. We would also be interested in proposals that tackle some of the key challenges identified in our material requirement roadmapping survey and workshops.
For any queries, please get in touch with the CENTS Network Manager (Dr Rika Nair) by email circulartransport@warwick.ac.uk
How Warwick researchers are reusing materials for future construction
Every year, landfills around Europe receive around 50m tonnes of waste that is too large for facilities to recycle or process. More than half of all this waste is from plastic, textiles, wood and composites.
Learn about the research at Warwick and how we are reusing materials for future construction.
Join us also for a live lunch time session to learn more about this during City of Culture - Invention theme.
Week commencing 24th May 2021. More information to follow.
Big Ideas ERA
As ERA reaches the end of its £60 million capital build programme, which has focused on the development of 23 test and demonstration facilities, it has been through a process of examining how to apply its academic capability and facilities to a series of major research, development and demonstration challenges which face the UK as it accelerates the delivery of low-carbon solutions towards 2050. This has resulted in a series of ‘Big Ideas’ focussed on:
- Implementation and demonstration of next-generation fuels;
- Medium-term, large-scale, energy storage;
- Integrating the circular economy with zero carbon and CCUS acceleration;
- Grid-scale electricity system modelling for future-proofing infrastructure;
- A National Centre for Decarbonisation of Heat, NCDH, and
- Behavioural transition for a low-carbon future.
The full document of the Big Ideas can be viewed along with the ERA Into the next ERA document.
If you would like to get involved with any of the Big Ideas or have any feedback please contact the Energy GRP: EnergyGRP@warwick.ac.uk
Circular Economy Network+ in Transportation Systems (CENTS)
Deadline: 7 May 2020
The Circular Economy Network+ in Transportation Systems (CENTS) has received funding from the EPSRC to build a UK-wide community of academic, industry and policy experts to deliver future designs, business models and manufacturing approaches so that emergent transport systems are inherently circular.
From 31 March 2020, CENTS invites proposals for collaborations between academic and industry partners that will enable cross-disciplinary, foresightful and risky early stage research. Applications involving Early Career Researchers (ECRs) are particularly encouraged. Projects are expected to be approximately 6 months in length. The expectation is to fund up to five projects of up to a maximum value of £50,000 at full Economic Cost (fEC), with funding to be awarded at 80% fEC.
Call details and application form available on the CENTS website.
