Resonate Festival - Invention Stitch in Time
Stitch In Time is a collaborative project between Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) at the University of Warwick and local primary schools for Coventry UK City of Culture 2021.
On Tuesday 1 June 2021 we hosted one of the very first events for Resonate Festival, 'Stitch in Time' at Herbert Art Gallery museum for the Month of Invention, coordinated by the Innovative Manufacturing and Future Materials GRP. The aim of this event was to inspire primary school children and their families from the local community about the history of Coventry's textiles, linking this to modern day technology and programming skills that are really important for children to learn.
Launching - The Resonate Festival
Over the next twelve months, to celebrate Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture and our role as a principal partner, the University of Warwick is hosting The Resonate Festival. This exciting programme of public events will include talks and public conversations, exhibitions, film festivals, walking tours, debates and so much more. The grand finale will be a multi-day festival on campus in April 2022. The entire programme and festival is linked with the themes and timings of the City of Culture year, and our events form part of the wider City of Culture programme.
Circular Economy Network+ in Transportation Systems: 2nd Call for Feasibility Studies
Feasibility study funding call
The CENTS research network invites proposals for collaborations between academic and industry partners that will enable cross-disciplinary, foresightful and risky early stage research. Applications involving Early Career Researchers (ECRs), and proposing interdisciplinary and cross sector research are particularly encouraged. The expectation is to fund up to four projects of up to a maximum value of £50,000 at full Economic Cost (fEC), with funding to be awarded at 80% fEC. Projects are expected to be approximately 6 months in length, and must complete before the end of Jan 2022.
Note to Early Career Applicants: Leading a CENTS project will not affect eligibility to the New Investigator Award scheme.
Fit with the CENTS Network
In this second round, we again welcome applications from a wide range of disciplines addressing circular economy challenges in transport that fall within our 5 Research Strands. We would also be interested in proposals that tackle some of the key challenges identified in our material requirement roadmapping survey and workshops.
For any queries, please get in touch with the CENTS Network Manager (Dr Rika Nair) by email circulartransport@warwick.ac.uk
How Warwick researchers are reusing materials for future construction
Every year, landfills around Europe receive around 50m tonnes of waste that is too large for facilities to recycle or process. More than half of all this waste is from plastic, textiles, wood and composites.
Learn about the research at Warwick and how we are reusing materials for future construction.
Join us also for a live lunch time session to learn more about this during City of Culture - Invention theme.
Week commencing 24th May 2021. More information to follow.
City of Culture 2021: Public Programme of Events
The Warwick Institute of Engagement (WIE) is working with teams from across the University to put on a public programme of events and activities which will engage varied and diverse communities with our research.
As part of this, we are planning a series of monthly, themed 'roadshow' events which will take place in various locations around Coventry - at community centres, festivals, libraries, pop-ups etc. These roadshow residencies will work with local communities to co-create a series of performances, workshops, discussions, debates, and experiences.
We are currently looking for expressions of interest to work with our curating teams to populate each monthly event with content.
Below you can see each monthly theme and the curating team who will be leading. If you are interested in being involved and would like to find out more, please complete the expression of interest form.
(Please note, at this stage there is no commitment from you to take part and no guarantee that we will be able to include every request - though we'll do our best!)
