The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

Advance Quantitative data analysis: Regression, Anova, and Manova (Research Methods)

Are you struggling with advanced quantitative analysis? In that case, this workshop will remind you of regression, Anova and Manova, and how to apply these statistical tools to your PhD projects appropriately. The distinctions between ANOVA, ANCOVA, MANOVA, and MANCOVA can be challenging. Before one can appreciate the differences, it is helpful to review their similarities, as well as dissimilarities.

Research Methods Series: A standalone series, but also to support our understanding of research integrity & ethics; the research methods series will give overviews of qualitative and quantitative or mixed methods; why some researchers will adopt certain methods; and why some approaches are more suitable than others. The sessions will provide general ideas; signposts to follow up on specific areas; the positives and negatives of different approaches. You will need to speak to your department for full research methodology training in your chosen practice.

You can attend the whole series or just pick the ones of specific interest.

Writing – making your thesis easier to read for your examiner- Mid & late stage PGR

A short practical session introducing the concept of thesis mapping and signposting. Learn how to ensure your examiners understand what you planned, what you did and what you found as a result of conducting your research.

By the end of the session you will have created a thesis map that will guide you to write your thesis and your examiners to read your thesis more easily.

The career coach will help you identify what you want out of your career, what is important to you and what self limitations maybe blocking your choices.

• To help a person change in the way they wish and helping them go in the direction they want to go.

It unlocks a person’s potential to maximise their performance. Coaching helps them to learn rather than teaching them.

Writing in Sciences series: The language of STEM writing

his session provides a review of some of the key principles for achieving clarity and concision in STEM-related writing. We will jointly work through some examples where clarity needs to be improved. The session then considers the concept of ‘readability’ and its importance for academic writing. Finally, there will be an opportunity to engage in writing practice, individually and in small groups. The session will be particularly useful for those who are beginning their research projects, or who are at an early stage of writing up.

Who is this for?

This workshop is tailored to PGRs in the STEM disciplines. STEM is an academic term that refers to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics - and includes disciplines in the life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, and the health sciences.

Part time PhD series- surviving and thriving

Part time PhD - surviving and thriving:

Four workshops to support you through the different stages of your PhD.

Two workshops will be group choice , and the other two are to support those either at the beginning/ early stages and then in the middle / final stages.

Group Choice:

Two weeks before the workshop we will email you suggestions for what we can cover. This will allow us to tailor the sessions to what is currently priority for you.

We will include options not covered elsewhere in the programme or not covered with your experience in mind.
