Introduction to Teleform

Marking 500 exam papers in three hours

Optical Character Recognition or Optical Character Reader (OCR) is a type of software that converts images of typed, printed or handwritten text into machine-encoded text. The software will pick up characters from scanned documents, photos of images or digital forms, such as PDFs. The text that is picked up by the software is verified by a member of staff to ensure that there are no mistakes. It is especially suitable for exams for large cohorts.

Automated marking in 5 easy steps

  1. Answer sheet created by lecturer emailed to eAssessment team. Examples: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) or Multiple Response Questions (MRQ)
  2. We create PDF form based on provided answer sheet and send it back to the lecturer. This Master form should be used for printing/photocopying
  3. Students fill out answer sheets
  4. All answers sheets posted to eAssessment via internal mail for processing (scanning and analysis)
  5. Lecturer (or administrator) receives analysis of results and hard copies of answer sheets. The aim is a 48 hour return for both results and copies. Examples: MCQ Exam Report
