Understanding the context of assessments is crucial in the learning process. Questionmark Perception (QMP) offers four types of assessments that you can choose from when creating your assessment: quiz, test, exam, and survey.
1. Quiz
- Purpose: A low-stakes formative assessment.
- Goal: Measures a student’s knowledge or skills and provides feedback on their current understanding.
- Feedback: Typically given to help students identify areas for improvement.
2. Test
- Purpose: Can be low to medium stakes.
- Goal: Often an unmonitored assessment that measures a student’s knowledge or skills.
- Feedback: Informs both students and teachers about the student’s current level of understanding.
3. Exam
- Purpose: Typically medium to high stakes.
- Goal: A monitored summative assessment used to evaluate a student’s knowledge or skills.
- Feedback: Documents the student’s level of knowledge or skill.
4. Survey
- Purpose: A low-stakes diagnostic or reaction assessment.
- Goal: Measures knowledge, skills, and attitudes to determine needs for specific purposes.
- Feedback: Helps identify requirements for improvement or development.
