Share EchoVideo content
This guide explains how to make your EchoVideo recordings, whether Lecture Capture or Universal Capture (Personal), available to students.
Once your Lecture Capture has finished recording and processing, it is stored on the EchoVideo server under the module or course it relates to. Universal Capture recordings you make on your own computer are also published to the EchoVideo server either under the associated module/space or in your private Library.
There are several methods to share EchoVideo content and your choice should depend on what the recordings relate to and where you want to share them.
Sharing EchoVideo recordings via Moodle (for modules and ad hoc spaces)
EchoVideo Lecture Capture and Universal Capture recordings made for specific modules can be shared to Moodle in three ways:
- via the Lecture Capture (EchoVideo) block in the respective Moodle space which will link to all recordings for the space it sits in.
- using the EchoVideo media activity to link to content which can be placed in the relevant section (topic) of your Moodle space.
- using the embed button to insert an EchoVideo video into a content area such as a page resource, a forum or anywhere in Moodle that you can access the TinyMCE toolbar (text editor)
The Lecture Capture (EchoVideo) block
Your Moodle space may already have the Lecture Capture (EchoVideo) block in the block drawer on the right-hand side. If automated lecture capture has been set up, this block will link to the module’s recordings.
If you have made Universal Capture recordings for an ad hoc Moodle space, you must have a corresponding 'section' in Echo and have published the recording to it. Email lecturecapture@warwick.ac.uk to request a section in EchoVideo for your space.
If you do not have the Lecture Capture block in your space:
- Enable Edit mode in the Moodle space.
- Open the block drawer on the right-hand side, if it is not already open, by clicking on the < Open block drawer tab.
- Click Add a block at the top of the block drawer.
- Choose Lecture Capture (EchoVideo) from the list.
NB. If you do not see it in the list, it is because the block has already been added. - The block will appear on the right-hand side of your Moodle space.
- Click on the Lecture Capture (EchoVideo) block to check that it links to your module or ad hoc space in EchoVideo and displays the correct recordings. If the correct module isn't already selected, choose the Section (module/space) from the drop-down list in Step 2.
- Ensure Section Home is selected in Step 3.
- Click the Connect button.
EchoVideo Media Activity
Use this to add a link to individual recordings from your Library or a whole module to your space as an activity/resource link.
- Enable Edit mode in the Moodle space.
- Click on Add an activity or resource in the section where you want to add the link.
- Click on the EchoVideo Media activity type from the activity list.
- In the Activity name field, enter the name of the link you want to create e.g. Lecture 1 - Introduction to Contract Law - 01/02/2024.
- The next steps depend on whether you want to upload new media or media from your own Library:
- To link to a recording from your personal Library or to upload new media:
- Click the Select content button.
- Click Launch Media Picker or Upload Media and follow the instructions.
- Click the Save and return to course button.
- To link to recordings made for a particular module:
- Click the Save and display button.
- In Step 2, choose the Section (module) from the dropdown list to which you want the recording(s) to link if the correct module isn't already selected. Note that if you cannot see a module in the list, it's because you are not an Instructor on it.
- In Step 3, choose either:
- Section home to link to all module recordings, or
- A Lesson to link to an individual recording.
- Click the Connect button.
- To link to a recording from your personal Library or to upload new media:
