Fill in the blanks question
In Fill in the blanks questions, participants indicate their answer by entering the word(s) or phrase(s) missing from the question wording.
1. Setting the Delivery Style
- Scored: Enables specific scoring and feedback for question choices.
- Unscored: Offers a simple layout for surveys, allowing feedback but not scores.
2. Adding the Question Wording
- Click on "Click here to change the question wording" to enter your desired question text.
- Use the text formatting toolbar to format the wording as needed.
3. Creating a Blank
- Selecting Text: Double-click a word to highlight it (trailing spaces may also be included but won't be in the blank).
- If the word is followed by a non-text element (like an image), you may need to drag to select exactly what you want.
- Use Shift + left arrow to deselect trailing spaces.
- Steps to Create a Blank:
- Highlight the desired word or phrase.
- Click Create a blank.
- Blank Options:
- Correct value: Edit the answer for the blank.
- Match Style Options:
- Exact match (case-sensitive).
- Case-insensitive match.
- Misspelled match.
- Includes text (case-sensitive).
- Includes text ignoring case.
- Width: Set the width of the blank (minimum should match the length of the blank word).
- Adding More Blanks: Repeat the process for additional blanks.
- Deleting Blanks:
- Select and press Delete; confirm the action.
- To clear all blanks, click Reset all blanks and confirm.
4. Scoring Answers
- Default scoring: Score per blank (points awarded for each correct blank).
- Setting Scores:
- Enter desired scores in the Correct score and Incorrect score fields.
- If Score per blank is unchecked, scores are awarded only for all blanks being correct.
5. Showing Feedback
- Provide feedback based on answers:
- For Score per blank:
- Enter feedback for correct and incorrect answers for each blank.
- For Non Score per blank:
- Enter feedback for the overall answers.
- For Score per blank:
6. Adding a Comment Box
- To Add: Click Add comment box; it appears at the bottom of the question.
- Prompt Text: Specify prompt text in the Add your comment field.
7. Saving Changes
- Always click Save to save changes and continue editing.
- A confirmation message will appear to indicate the question has been saved.
