As more of us find ourselves in front of screens, PE teachers play an important role in showing young people the importance of movement. Our course gives you the skills to inspire pupils through inclusive sport and activity. Combining the latest research with practical teaching experience, you’ll develop the expertise and confidence to become a reflective, innovative PE teacher who helps every student build a positive relationship with physical activity.

Modules

Our course equips you with the values, skills and knowledge to become a highly effective teacher for pupils aged 11–18.

  • PGCE qualification: a one-year course combining academic study with hands-on teaching experience.
  • Professional qualification: graduate with a recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – a requirement for state schools.
  • Extensive classroom experience: minimum of 120 days on school placement.
  • Core skills: plan, teach and assess effectively at KS3, 4 and 5 to help students understand the value of physical activity.
  • Inclusive teaching: learn how to adapt your teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including disadvantaged learners and pupils with SEND and EAL.

Fees and scholarships

Tuition fees are payable for each year of your course at the start of the academic year, or at the start of your course, if later. Academic fees cover the cost of tuition, examinations and assessment and some student amenities.
