Adrian Rodger

Adrian Rodger is a British Army veteran and doctoral researcher at the University of Warwick’s Institute for Employment Research. His research examines veterans’ engagement with local authority employment support and their access to work that reflects their skills, experience and aspirations, using Coventry City Council as a case study.

Alongside his doctoral studies, Adrian works for Coventry City Council, supporting veterans and people facing barriers to employment to secure meaningful, sustainable work. He also chairs the Council’s Armed Forces Network. His professional practice and military background give him a distinctive perspective on the relationship between employment support, the recognition of transferable skills and veterans’ experiences of civilian working life.

Adrian holds a Master of Laws (LLM) and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. Drawing on these disciplines, he is interested in how individual experiences, institutional practices and public policy shape access to employment and opportunities for progression.

A father of three, Adrian combines doctoral research with full-time employment and family life. His research brings together lived experience and frontline employment practice, with the aim of informing support that recognises the breadth of veterans’ capabilities and helps them access fulfilling careers.

His research interests include veteran employment, skills recognition and utilisation, labour market inequalities, and local authority employment support.
