Jon Winfield
Jon Winfield joined IER on a collaborative studentship in October 2019. The research topic is ‘Understanding employer delivery of good work in the UK’ and will align with policy objectives of the Living Wage Foundation. The research will focus on three main sectors; wholesale and retail, accommodation and food services, and Health and Social Care.
Prior to joining IER, Jon completed a MA in Social Research and a BA in Health and Social Policy, both at Warwick. During those degrees, the focus of Jon’s research was on inequalities, first the barriers mature students faced when accessing Higher Education and secondly what stopped looked after children progressing into HE. Before that, Jon worked in various roles within the retail and wholesale environment and has seen at first hand some of the challenges zero hour contracts and minimum wage present to both employers and employees.
