Alternative Provision Workforce Research
Warwick IER has been commissioned by Department for Education to undertake research into Alternative Provision (AP) providers’ workforce. The aim of the project is to extend and further develop knowledge of the issues faced by AP providers in attracting and developing high quality staff, with a focus on capturing AP senior leaders’ views of the challenges faced around areas such as recruitment and retention, teacher characteristics and skills, training and CPD (including expertise around dealing with adversity and trauma), and in-reach and outreach work between mainstream schools. The research would include interviews with a cross-section of AP providers segmented by region, urban/rural setting, type of provider and size of workforce.
