Migrant workers in the East Midlands in 2009

The overarching aims of this project were to provide: an up-to-date as possible assessment of the contribution of migrant workers (both those who have freedom of movement and those subject to entry via other routes) to the East Midlands’ regional economy; and an assessment of the impact of recession on the volume of migrant labour in the East Midlands – with a particular focus on employment and productivity in migrant dense sectors. The project drew on a review of the academic and policy literature (covering a range of disciplines [such as economics, geography, sociology, etc]) and secondary data sources.
