Longitudinal study of FE students
IER is conducting a tracking study of students / apprentices who are about to complete a Level 3 qualification. The
study will track students through the labour market over the next three years to gauge what factors bring about relatively successful outcomes. The study is funded by the Edge Foundation and City and Guilds.
Wave 1 report
We have published the first report from this study, which looks at the learners as they prepare to complete their course or apprenticeship. It shows how they chose the their qualification and learning provider, usually with very little substantive input from careers advisers. It also looks at their plans and aspirations for the future, which for some learners were very clear whilst others, particularly in certain disciplines, are at risk of ‘drifting’.
You can download a copy of the full report below and we will publish reports from subsequent waves when they are available.
