  • Development of LMI for the National Guidance Research Forum - Group 2 SSCs, Funded by: Skillset/SSDA, Project Start Date: 01/12/2005 Project End Date: 30/06/2006. As part of the government's review of information, advice and guidance (IAG), 8 selected SSCs were funded to audit LMI produced that is suitable for IAG and update information on the NGRF.

Project developed content for the Scottish context on the online LMI learning module.
  • An Evaluation of the LMI Online Learning Module as prt of the SSC IAG Project: Stage 2, Funded by: Skillset, Project Start Date: 01/01/2008 Project End Date: 31/03/2008. Evaluation of the NGRF LMI online learning module.
  • Piloting and Evaluation of Online Learning Resource to Support Careers Practitioners in the Use of Labour Market Information, Funded by: Skillset, Project Start Date: 01/08/2006 Project End Date: 28/02/2007. The design, development and implementation of an online LMI learning module for careers professionals.

 

Assessing LMI

  • Quality Standards for Labour Market Information, Funded by: Skillset, Project Start Date: 01/12/2007 Project End Date: 31/03/2008. Protocols were produced to support SSCs in the provision of LMI to be used by practitioners in the IAG process, including a proforma to assist with the process of applying the protocols.
  • Support for the Development of the NGRF Website - Quality Control, Funded by: National Institute of Adult Continuing Education, Project Start Date: 04/01/2005 Project End Date: 31/03/2005. The NGRF Website editorial group developed editorial policies for all website content. The project ensured quality assurance and consistency of materials and discussions posted on the NGRF Strategic Initiative area of the website.
  • Critical Review of Quality Assurance Mechanisms for Information, Advice and Guidance, Funded by: UFI Limited, Project Start Date: 22/06/2005 Project End Date: 31/01/2006
  • Feasibility Study into the Development of an On-line LLMI Facility for the National Resource Service, with Jenny Bimrose, (Institute for Employment Research), Anne Green, Michael Orton and Rhys Davies (Institute for Employment Research), Funded by: Ufi LearnDirect, Project Start Date: 01/04/2005 Project End Date: 30/06/2005. Project reviewing and evaluating local labour market information for careers guidance practice. [details]

Training for careers guidance professionals

  • Train the Trainer Workshops, Funded by: Skills for Business, Project Start Date: 05/01/2007 Project End Date: 30/04/2007. The design and implementation of a set of workshops for careers advisers on LMI and using LMI effectively in practice.
  • Using LMI Effectively in Practice Workshops, with Jenny Bimrose, (Institute for Employment Research), Anne Green (Institute for Employment Research), Funded by: Ufi LearnDirect, Project organised and presented workshops for learndirect advisers and lifelong learning advisers. The workshops focused on the use of labour market information in practice, drawing on resources provided by the NGRF website., Project Start Date: 01/09/2005 Project End Date: 31/10/2008 [details]

 

Technical developments

  • Technical and non-technical support for NGRF (2005/06), Funded by: Department for Education and Skills, Project Start Date: 05/12/2005 Project End Date: 31/03/2006. Project provided technical support for the NGRF and developed the discussion system for the NGRF to support the work of 'expert' groups and 'working' groups appointed for the Review of IAG.
  • National Guidance Research Forum Website - Proposal for Technical Development and Content Update 2007, Funded by: Learning & Skills Council (Coventry), Project Start Date: 22/03/2007 Project End Date: 31/03/2007. Project objective to take the NGRF website to a higher level of operation and service delivery, by focusing on the technical enhancement and up-dating of the content for the ‘Making Guidance more Effective'.
  • Supporting the Development of Interactivity on the NGRF, Funded by: Department for Education and Skills, Project Start Date: 01/11/2004 Project End Date: 31/03/2005. The project comprised of four work packages: software development for the interactive features of the website; development of activity framework for discussions; enhancement of live NGRF website; and organisation of face-to-face events.
