The Midlands Engine Mental Health Productivity Pilot
The Midlands Engine Mental Health Productivity Pilot
The mental health of employees is seen as a UK national priority and significant contributor to economic productivity and growth: poor mental health in the workplace is estimated to cost almost 2% of UK GDP.
The £6.8m Midlands Engine Mental Health Productivity Pilot will work for three years from mid 2019 with large and small employers across the Midlands Engine priority sectors to:
- Review existing best practice and current mental health needs, and test a broad range of pilot interventions
- Analyse the cost of productivity loss to employers from mental health related illness, the increased productivity from interventions, and value for money
- Support employers to roll out the Stevenson/ Farmer core and enhanced standards, and to understand the link between mental health and productivity
- Create an evidence base of what interventions work, identify how interventions could be scaled up and made sustainable in the future, including exit strategies for employees and employers.
Warwick IER is providing expertise to the project on the context, underpinning factors and support for productivity and mental health in the workplace.
