Benchmark STEM projections

Rob Wilson was commissioned by a consortium, including the Engineering Technology Board, the Council for Industry and Higher Education and the Department for Innovation Universities and Skills, to undertake some benchmark projections of the demand for those qualified at degree level and above in STEM, based upon previous analysis undertaken as part of the on Working Futures series. A detailed report setting out the possible implications based on a range of alternative assumptions was produced. A summary was published by the Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE).

The changing demand for people qualified in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is the focus of attention in many countries. Many in the UK are concerned that this demand may outstrip likely supply.
