Upload audio and video files to Echo360

Follow the steps below, to upload video content created outside of Echo360. Please note that this is distinct from capturing videos directly into the Echo 360 system using Lecture Capture or Universal Capture.

All content added to Echo 360, via Lecture Capture, Universal Capture, or direct upload will now have transcriptions automatically generated. For more information please see our Echo360 Automated Transcripts and Closed Captions guidance.

Upload content into your Echo360 Content Library

By default, Echo360 will upload content to your Library, a private area in Echo360 where you can store video before making it available to students.

  1. Login to Moodle
  2. Navigate to the Moodle space where the video will be published
  3. Click on the Echo360 block (to add the Echo360 block, follow our Share you Echo360 recordings guide)
  4. Click on the blue Create button, located at the top of the page
  5. Select Upload media from the dropdown.
  6. Drag and drop a file or navigate to the file on your device or from a cloud storage solution.
  7. Click Upload once the file(s) has been selected. A bar under the file will show you the upload progress.
  8. Once the upload has completed a window will display a message that the file is now available in your library.

Making uploaded videos available for students

Now that the file is in your library there are a few ways to make a video available to students depending on your requirements and how you use Echo360/Moodle.

  • Publishing to a course - If you already have Echo 60 material for your course, or will in the future, you may want to publish the video to the course making it available alongside the other Echo360 content for the course.
  • Using a link or embed - If you are only looking to share a single video you may want to to this via an individual link or embed. This method can be applied to sharing videos in various locations including Moodle.

Publishing an uploaded video to a Moodle space

  1. Login to Moodle
  2. Navigate to the Moodle space where the video will be published
  3. Click on the Echo360 block (to add the Echo360 block, follow our Share you Echo360 recordings guide)
  4. Click on Library in the top-left corner
  5. Click on the video by finding it or searching for it in your Library.
  6. Click Add To A Class found below the video under Share Settings, Classes.
  7. Select from the dropdowns:
    1. The Course you want to add the content to
    2. The Term (Academic year)
    3. Then the Section, which should have narrowed based on previous selections
  8. Select New Class
  9. Give the Class a name
    1. Optional: add a description, and limit availability.
  10. Click Share.

Your recording(s) will be available to students via the Moodle Echo360 block for the course you selected.

Sharing via a link or embed

  1. Login to Moodle
  2. Navigate to the Moodle space where the video will be published
  3. Click on the Echo360 block (to add the Echo360 block, follow our Share you Echo360 recordings guide)
  4. Click on Library in the top-left corner
  5. Click on the video by finding it or searching for it in your Library.
  6. Click Add Link below the video in Share Settings, Links.
  7. Click Copy to get the share link, or Click Embed to setup and copy the embed code.
  8. Paste the link or embed code where you wish to share the video.
