Permits of exemption: Retail Bespoke Tailoring Trade Boards
This index is a summary of key information relating to permits of exemption issued to workers who came within the scope of the Retail Bespoke Tailoring Trade Boards. The Retail Bespoke Tailoring Trade Board (Great Britain) operated between 1919-1924. In 1924 separate boards for (1) England and Wales, and (2) Scotland, were established. Permits of exemption were issued to individuals who were regarded as being "affected by any infirmity or physical injury which renders [them] incapable of earning that minimum time-rate". The data is taken from summarised applications for permits submitted to members of the Board.
