As part of our commitment to the Athena SWAN charter, the Department of Computer Science (DCS) is committed to supporting staff with caring responsibilities. Below are some of the things we offer to our staff...


Enhanced Conference Support Award

DCS offer an Enhanced Conference Support Award to all staff and PhD students - our bursary of up to £350 can help towards extra childcare costs when attending an essential conference.


Maternity, Paternity, Shared Parental and Adoption Leave

All Warwick staff have access to exceptional paid maternityLink opens in a new window, paternityLink opens in a new window, shared parentalLink opens in a new window and adoptionLink opens in a new window leave, (depending on length of service).

Following 2-weeks of paternity leave at full pay, DCS offers a further two weeks of ‘workload relief’ (from teaching and administrative commitments)


Academic Returners Fellowship

The Warwick Academic Returners FellowshipLink opens in a new window provides a period of additional ‘study leave’ for academics who are returning to work from long term leave, such as: maternity/adoption leave, extended paternity leave, and long-term parental leave. Similar to a sabbatical, this allows academics to focus exclusively on research for the awarded duration (the duration being equal to the duration of long term leave, up to a limit of 12 months).


Flexible Working

After 26 weeks service you are eligible to request flexible workingLink opens in a new window such as, reduced hours, term time only, job sharing, or compressed hours.


Infant Feeding / Wellbeing Space

We have an infant feeding and relaxation room in the adjacent Zeeman building (shared with Maths and Stats) with card access. You are welcome to book this room for infant feeding and changing, milk expression, and as a private relaxation / wellbeing space. Those with shared offices may find this especially useful.
