Conference of the International Working Party on Labour Market Segmentation
IER, together with Copenhagen Business School and FAOS, University of Copenhagen, organised the 42nd conference of the International Working Party on Labour Market Segmentation (IWPLMS), which took place at Copenhagen Business School on 5-6 September. The conference was well attended and both international academic scholars and practitioners took part in the conference.
There were three main round table debates on some of the key challenges facing European labour markets. The first round table debate entitled 'Decent wages and equal pay' focused on EU's recent minimum wage directive and EU's pay transparency directive, while the second round table debate concentrated on ‘Mobile work and labour market’, notably on recent migration trends. The third round table debated ’Job quality and regulating the gig economy’ with a particular focus on the EU's recent platform work. For each of the round tables, there were presentations from leading international academic scholars combined with presentations from leading Danish trade unions and employers’ representatives that in many ways gave unique insights and perspectives on how these issues are debated both within academia and among social partners.
