Warwick Institute for Employment Research (IER) was been commissioned by the Edge Foundation and the Gatsby Foundation. The study has been researching how employers said they would respond to the apprenticeship reforms introduced in April 2017, and how they actually did react. The study explored the reasons for any difference in their expected behaviour.
The study involved in-depth interviews with employers across a different sectors, as well as levy and non-levy payers.
Interviews with employers also explored how they are coping with the current crisis and how this is impacting on their apprenticeship recruitment.
