IER has been commissioned to undertake a Foresight project which will focus on the “Futures of Green Skills and Jobs in Europe”. This is part of the Foresight on Demand Consortium funded by Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD).

The project involves developing alternative future visions on the state of green skills and jobs and their demand and offer in the European Union by 2050. This involves discussing future scenarios along the dimensions of: the EU’s global leadership in green technologies; the role of research, innovation and technological change (especially AI); infrastructure needs; and, institutional change.

The study involves thematic reviews, online workshops and discussions, and the drafting of the policy brief which will appear on the futures4europe.org online platform.
