Intergenerational Memories of (1947) Partition: Collective remembering through visual-material objects

Wednesday 8 March 2023, 17:30-19:30 | The Oculus OC0.02 | In-person

Please fill out the form below to register for this event.

The discussion on the intergenerational memories belonging to the Partition of 1947 is of particular importance at a time when colonial history is being publicly reckoned with, in politics, social and popular culture in the UK. The outcome of the Partition event will be an initial endeavour to invite the ‘South Asian diaspora community’: in an academic space. Rather than being passive participants they will be active co-producers in this event. Their responses will benefit and inform newer research on decolonising Partition and in understanding minority SA diaspora communities living in Midland’s vis-e-vis cultural vehicles such as photographs, objects, letters, and other items of memorabilia.
