These are copies of press photographs taken during the General Strike in May 1926. The majority show scenes in London, including of strike-breaking work by volunteers on the transport system and in the docks, food distribution (including the great food convoy), and the aftermath of riots in the capital.
The photograph album was part of the collection of the late Mr AW Mills, and was loaned to us for scanning by his family. The Modern Records Centre does not hold the original album or photographs, only digitised copies.
For more archives relating to the General Strike, search our online collection of more than 450 digitised documents.
