MSc by Research in Business Transformation (2023 Entry)

This Master's programme is designed for people associated with a family owned business with the aim of leading the business into the future and new opportunity areas. The programme will enable you to take your business to the next level, with improved operations, new business models, into new markets, and with new products.


Course overview

This course will enable you to understand business transformation, entrepreneurship and innovation. It will give you the knowledge to understand the different aspects of the business and the entrepreneurial mind-set to transform it.

To support your learning and provide experience of business consultancy and transformation, you will attend core taught modules, and undertake four projects with UK SMEs to experience a variety of business environments.

Throughout the programme you will be supported by business leaders, entrepreneurs and technology experts as required.

Teaching and learning

The taught component of the course is a mixture of traditional lectured material, syndicate/group work, large scale delivery, practical work, online learning and forum activities. Module leaders are experts in their fields and are supported by external speakers working in organisations at the forefront of their fields.

The projects with UK SMEs (in a broad range of sectors) are with the WMG SME Team. One of the leading Small Business Assistance teams in the country with experts in IT, Electronics, Materials, Processes and Business Strategy.

Minimum requirements

2:i undergraduate degree and/or a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.

  • Band A
  • IELTS overall score of 6.5, minimum component scores not below 6.0.
