Your Senior TutorLink opens in a new window is a dedicated and experienced member of academic staff who leads the pastoral care of History undergraduates in each year group.
Personal Tutors are not experts in health and wellbeing issues, nor are they academic experts in all subject areas within your department or degree course. But they can help with general academic queries on topics such as feedback, further study and skills development. You can find out more in the Personal Tutoring section of the UG Handbook.
Your Personal Tutor will also signpost you to the appropriate support service for your needs, and is also there to discuss managing the impact of any issues on your studies.
You can access online or in-person brief consultations via the Wellbeing Portal,Link opens in a new window Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm. The team is based at Senate House on Central Campus.
An adviser will help you identify your needs and offer practical and/or emotional support, such as therapeutic interventions or a referral to the Disability Services team.
You are expected to manage your time carefully in order to meet your study commitments. However, if you experience exceptional, unforeseen circumstances, there are a number of options which may help.
All students are able to apply for two separate extension periods of 5 working days through self-certificationLink opens in a new window. These will be granted without the need for evidence. Please note: you cannot use two self-certifications on the same assignment.
You may apply for other extensionsLink opens in a new windowdirectly to the department via Tabula. 'Specific' and 'exceptional' extensions are designed to give you some breathing space in the short-term, but you will need to provide evidence and/or discuss your situation with your Personal Tutor or Disability/Wellbeing Services.
You may also be eligible for extensions if flexibility with deadlines is recommended as a reasonable adjustmentLink opens in a new window, if you are studying with disability or a chronic or long-term health issue. Reasonable Adjustments are assessed by Disability Services.
Reasonable AdjustmentsLink opens in a new window are designed to ensure you have equal access to education and an inclusive learning environment if you live with a long-term health condition or disability.
To be considered for reasonable adjustments, you should meet with Disability Services advisor. They will ask you to bring relevant supporting evidence to help determine what kind of support might be appropriate for you while you're studying at Warwick.
Should you experience any exceptional, unforeseen circumstances during your studies, and you feel they have had a detrimental impact on your progression, you may apply for Mitigating CircumstancesLink opens in a new window.
These will be considered in time for the end of year Board of Examiners. Evidence will be required for a small committee to review your case and make recommendations.
It is strongly advisable to apply as soon as the circumstances arise.
