CRETA

CRETA supports Research in Economic Theory and its Applications.

  • It fosters and co-ordinates collaborative research in economic theory, in its applications, and in multidisciplinary projects with areas such as applied mathematics, biology, philosophy and political science;
  • it creates new, and strengthens existing links with other research centres and universities with related interests;
  • it attracts funding for individual and collaborative research projects; and
  • it disseminates research results through visits, seminars, conferences, and through the publication of a Discussion Paper series.

Activities

Since its creation in 2006, CRETA has run a seminar series with external and internal talks on economic theory and applications.

We have also co-organized the XVI European Workshop on General Equilibrium; hosted an annual lecture in Economic Theory; co-organised one-day workshops jointly with the Department of Economics at the University of Birmingham; and hosted an annual Summer School in Economic Theory and its applications.

Introduction to Economics

In partnership with Discover Economics and the Warwick Economics Summit, we are delighted to invite you to a free, interactive event for 16-18 year old students, parents and teachers.

This Introduction to Economics event aims to provide 16-18 year old students, parents and their teachers with an exciting opportunity to discover more about economics as a subject, experience an interactive taster lecture delivered by the Department of Economics and hear from current undergraduate students on what it's like to study economics at university. There will also be the chance to hear from economists about the wide-ranging work they do and the possible career opportunities open to economists.

*Attendees of this event will also be eligible to attend the Warwick Economic Summit for FREE on 24-26 January 2025. If you are interested, please opt-in to receiving a free ticket when registering for this event.

Economics Winter Graduation Reception 2025

Congratulations to all our Postgraduate students who will be graduating this Winter.

On Thursday 23 January, our Postgraduate students will be awarded their degrees in the afternoon graduation ceremony which will take place in the Warwick Arts Centre.

Later in the day, graduates along with their family and friends are invited to join academic and administrative staff from the Department of Economics to celebrate their graduation success and achievements for an evening reception of drinks, food and music, starting at 4.30pm in the Chancellors Suite, Rootes Building.

Warwick/UPF/Northwestern/CEPR Political Economy Symposium 2025

Runs from Friday, March 14 to Saturday, March 15.

The Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick, along with Northwestern University, Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF) are organising the CEPR Political Economy Symposium in Rome, Italy, on 14-15 March 2025.
