Upskilling and reskilling adult workers – the problem of employer demand

Our new evidence paper - Upskilling and reskilling adult workers - the problem of employer demand - finds that there is an urgent need to upskill and reskill adult workers to enable the UK to meet new challenges facing its future prosperity and productivity.

It sets out the challenges – including the narrow focus of Levelling Up, inequality in the skills system and the risks of continuing as we are – puts forward solutions, and explains why employers have an important role to play in tackling the issue.

New blogs about ReWAGE projects published

Our experts have been spreading the word about ReWAGE’s projects recently and have taken up invitations to publish blogs about their work on partner sites.

In a blog for the OECD Cogito site, Peter Dickinson of the Warwick Institute for Employment Research, talks about his report for ReWAGE on the work that England’s Mayoral Combined Authorities are doing with local employers to promote good work through the publication of good/fair work Charters. And Professor Chris Forde has recently published blogs on both the Work Foundation website and Digit Blog outlining the findings of a report he produced for ReWAGE in partnership with the Migration Observatory at Oxford, which looks at the reasons for labour shortages in the UK.
