Warwick researcher to investigate the link between apes and the evolution of human language

Dr Adriano R. Lameira, from the Department of Psychology at the University of Warwick, has been awarded a prestigious UKRI Future Leader Fellowship, for his project: The ape and the first word: Understanding the origins and evolution of the first linguistic structures in the human clade through comparative research.

Boundary-spanning research centre launches six new projects

From improving mapping of species at risk to analysing the uptake of COVID-19 test and tracing apps by the public, researchers at the University of Warwick's Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies (CIM) are launching six new projects investigating how new technologies are shaping society, and demonstrating how data science can tackle current social, political and ecological challenges.

Local residents entertained, challenged and moved by ESRC Festival of Social Science

More than 500 people took part in the workshops, talks and activities organised by the University of Warwick for this year’s ESRC Festival of Social Science. University researchers took to Coventry and Warwickshire’s streets, bars and community centres to share insights from their work with enthusiastic and interested audiences. The events tackled topics from the nature of time itself and the puzzle of DNA to taxes and accents.


Flood protection in Brazil and hearing aids in Nepal thanks to UKRI award

Mitigating disastrous flooding in Brazil and providing hearing aids in Nepal are the focus of two new international research projects by the University of Warwick, thanks to more than three quarters of a million pounds from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).


Launched: Festival of Social Science programme for Coventry and Warwickshire
