BA in Modern Languages with Translation and Transcultural Studies: 3 Languages Degree

The below course structure is indicative. Modules on offer change year on year, dependent on staff research interests and availability.

Year One

Core language
 

One of the following First Languages (30 CATS):

 

French Language, German Language, Italian Language or Spanish Language (post A-level)

 

Plus two of the following Second Languages (60 CATS):

 

Language 2: French, German, Italian, Spanish (any level) Must be an FR, IT, GE or HP-coded module for language 2.

Language 3: Chinese, French, German, Italian or Spanish (any level); Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese or Russian (beginner’s or post-GCSE level)

  Translation: Methods and Practice (LN102) (30 CATS)

Year Two/Three

Core Modules
  Continuation of First Language (30 CATS):
  French Language II, German Language II, Italian Language II or Spanish Language II
  Continuation of Second (30 CATS) and Third Languages (30 CATS):
  Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish (NB Second language must come from French, German, Hispanic or Italian sections, coded FR, GE, HP or IT).
